Prof. Lee rang an alarm at vague anticipation for a vaccine with such a claim in an article entitled “An uncomfortable truth about vaccines against the Corona 19 virus” in the January issue of “Health and Life,” a Korean health information magazine. I met Professor Lee in person on the 15th. *If you get the vaccine, won't you get Corona 19?
“In theory, prevention is impossible. The problem is that people think that all vaccines are the same. It should be understood that respiratory viruses should not be taken with the vaccine. If the virus travels through the blood and causes disease, the vaccine is 100% effective. Corona 19 virus is an infection in the upper respiratory tract (nose mucosa, pharyngeal mucosa), but blood antibodies from the vaccine cannot be accessed. There is no way to prevent it.”
*Corona 19 is a kind of cold virus?
“I'll explain a little about the cold. What the internal medicine book says about a cold is ‘self-limiting disease’ that lasts about a week. It is a disease that is infected by the upper respiratory tract and ends in about a week at most. And there is no mortality rate. Antibodies should come out 3 days after infection. Antibodies are never released before 3 days. Usually, the general public thinks of immunity and then antibodies. How to block before 3 days, the immune system that blocks before 3 days is called congenital immunity. Coronavirus is the same as the cold virus. The only difference is that it sticks to the upper respiratory mucosa. It means that the ability to stick is 100 times stronger. As you know, not any cell sticks. The cold virus attaches only to the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract. It is said that there are more than 100 times the coronavirus, whose strength has become a variant. That is why infection continues even in the middle of summer. Originally, it is a disease that ends in 3-4 days. There is no time for antibodies to be made. It takes 3-4 days for the wound to heal and ends in a week.”
*Are the symptoms worse than the common cold virus?
“It is said to be more severe than the general cold, but weaker than the flu. Because the coronavirus that is causing the problem is in everyone. It is a symbiotic virus. However, Corona 19 has a different base sequence from 5 to 10% of a symbiotic virus. This is because the bat is infected. Coronaviruses originally do not go back and forth between species. But this time, this is a bat, SARS is a musk cat, and MERS is a camel coronavirus. The collapse of the species wall occurred in the 21st century.”
*Why is it difficult to develop COVID-19 antibodies?
“Corona 19 is unfamiliar to the human body because it has 5-10% different parts from the coronavirus in the original body. When an unfamiliar person enters, the reaction occurs severely. It wasn't there, but in reality 90-95% is exactly what we have. Antibodies are not made so well. Commissioner Jeong Eun-kyung announced. When 1440 Koreans were randomly selected and tested for antibodies against Corona 19, they said that one came out. Almost no antibodies are produced. What I have in my body is that it doesn't make antibodies, because 90-95% of Corona 19 is the same. Influenza (flu) is not in my body. It is infected. That's why our body's immune system makes antibodies quickly. Influenza produces antibodies well.
However, in the case of respiratory viruses, they are in the air and stick to the nose, but influenza antibodies are in the blood. Because it moves around in blood, it cannot be accessed because there are no blood vessels in the epithelial cells of the respiratory tract. So, theoretically, the prevention effect is 0%. But why is it correct? When complications of the flu occur, the elderly become pneumonia and die. When it comes to pneumonia, it means that a person in the upper airway travels in blood, and antibodies work in the blood. You can keep it from dying. It's not that it doesn't work at all. However, it means that less than 1% of people do that. "Is it necessary to get the vaccine for less than 1 in 100 people?"
*So, does the Corona 19 vaccine have such an effect?
“The same is true of Corona 19. In many cases, people who died of Corona 19 died because blood vessels in the brain were blocked, kidneys, lungs, livers, and so on. If you say that antibodies to Corona 19 are made, that can be prevented. It makes sense to get the vaccine because I am scared of that. It's not that the vaccines have no effect. There is no preventive effect. However, 99% of infected people just skip it. It is a problem in 1 to 2%, but if those people say that antibodies are produced by getting a vaccine, it is effective for problems caused by entering the bloodstream. However, the problem is that the flu produces almost 100% antibodies, but because Corona 19 has a 90-95% similarity to the coronavirus present in our body, our immune cells must find 5-10%. It is theoretically very difficult because we have to find it and make an antibody.”
*Are there any risks from the vaccine itself?
What is clear is that the mRNA vaccine is what Pfizer or Modena does. It is the first humankind to use the mRNA vaccine. It is very dangerous. The original mRNA does not enter the cell just because it is stabbed. However, the CEO he said he developed the technology to enter. Then, if this is your first attempt, you have to look at safety for more than 10 years. As a scientist, you're talking exactly about facts. It is clear that the safety has not been verified. Major media outlets only talk about securing vaccines, but not about problems. You can't. The function of the media is to point out that there may be problems in the view of many people in the major media, but I do not know what this is doing. What is clear is that the mRNA vaccine safety has not been verified anyway.
*What about the government announcement that it creates collective immunity?
“It does not create collective immunity. Cold is a disease that has shared history with mankind, but why does not group immunity occur? Absolutely not. Group immunity is impossible. Antibodies are not well-produced, and even if antibodies do develop, they are bound to keep getting caught. Population immunity is a time when the premise is that antibodies can stop the virus from entering. For example, hepatitis vaccine works perfectly. But this is not it. Antibodies cannot meet the virus. The same goes for the cure. There is no cure with injections or eating. I have to go to the cell where the antibody is infected and wait for it, but I don't go there. So it keeps failing.”
*Will the vaccine prevent infecting others?
Don't take off your mask just because you've been vaccinated, and that's what Pfizer et al are carefully trying to cover the vulnerability of the vaccine. Makes sense. Why should I wear a mask if I got the vaccine and got antibodies? I can't get infected and I can't get infected. Because the incoming virus was killed by antibodies. That's right for a virus that infects blood. But don't take off your mask just because you've got the vaccine after making the most of the vaccine, and those people are guaranteeing that saying this is exactly what I said. Yale University's Dr. Harvey Risch also recently told Fox News in the United States that although the COVID-19 vaccine has the effect of preventing itself, it does not prevent infecting others.
*If you can think of Corona 19 as a cold or flu level, why are there so many deaths?
“It is because they reported that they were dying. Nearly 1,000 people die from the flu every year in Korea. Report it every time you die. The whole people tremble with fear. Over 1,200 people died in 13 months. There is no flu from May to October, and 1,500 people have died in 5 to 6 months from November to March to April of the following year. But now this is 1,100 people died in 14 months. It is not a fuss.”
*If you are a policy maker, what would you like to do?
“Actually, it doesn't make a big difference. Instead, if you're worried about spreading, just wearing a mask thoroughly won't increase any more. Instead, hospitals and nursing homes should be much strengthened. In fact, those who work there should be strengthened ten times more than they are now so that no one who is really suspicious can enter. It is necessary to thoroughly protect the elderly and the underlying disease so that no one dies. The ban on gatherings has no meaning. The infection may be less, but there is nothing to gain from it. Those who die are those with underlying diseases anyway. Even if 70% of them are infected, if the nursing home or hospital is completely managed so that the germs cannot go to the elderly and the underlying disease, no one will die.”
*How should we protect the vulnerable who live with our family?
“That's actually the most hole. There are elderly people who are not enough to go to a nursing home. Young children have too many asymptomatic infections. The question is what to do if you infect your grandfather. You just have to find those parts head-to-head. You can think of it as a new life change that can occur after the corona era. Married couples and children under the age of 60 can live without any problems, but care should be taken in cases such as living with parents over 80.”
*The vaccine rejection rate is very high in Europe?
“It's probably because I can't believe the vaccine. I can't believe that Pfizer or Modena said it had a 95% prevention rate. With RT-PCR, which is a common practice, all real vaccinators are positive, so you have to use another method, but they don't announce it. Since there is no way, I heard a difficult explanation that it was based on symptom relief, but it is difficult to understand.” Vaccination began in France on December 27 last year, but until January 7, the vaccination rate was only 0.03%. The rejection rate of vaccination reaches 60%. Alain Fichet, chairman of the Vaccination Strategy Committee, chief executive of the authorities, cannot see scientific data on the vaccine prior to vaccination, the efficacy is only 2-3 months, there is no known how effective it is for the underlying disease, and the vaccination is not transferred to others. *Does it make sense for the authorities to announce the number of confirmed cases now?
“It means nothing. There are few tests on weekends, so there are fewer confirmed cases. If you check a lot, you get a lot, and if you check a less, it comes out less. What does that number mean? How many cold patients do you announce? It is an act of the government to scare the people. There is no need to announce at all. Rather, it may make sense to compare the number of confirmed cases to the number of tests and to compare the confirmation rate.”

*When the number of confirmed patients announced is 0, this situation will end. Will that day come?
“Never come. It cannot be zero. It is a human symbiotic virus. Variations are constantly occurring. We have no choice but to live together. How can it be zero? As it appeared in the news yesterday, Modena or CEO who made the vaccine said that Corona 19 will be an endemic disease that will not disappear forever and humanity will have to live with this virus. I admitted that, why would I make and get a vaccine? That's not right back and forth. It makes a corner for these people to run away from. The coronavirus is bound to continue to emerge, so the vaccine is useless.”
*I'm facing vaccination; then, what message would you like to share with your family or friends as an expert?
“When a variant comes out, it is said that the vaccine is invalid. When a variety comes out, it spreads in an instant. The emergence of the variant is as obvious as a fire. What to do if there is a strain, now all the vaccines will be garbage. Don't rely on vaccines. We are scared because of dying, but if the immune function is lowered for some reason, the unfortunate thing that the virus travels through the blood occurs unfortunately, and some of it dies, so it is the most sure to protect one's immune function. As long as the immune function is good, the variant does not matter. The more the variety is, the more active it is. Vaccines become powerless as soon as a variety emerges, but the immune function of our body makes the immune response more certain to the variety. It is best to develop autoimmune function. The representative thing is to eat vitamin C. There is no need to fear the infection itself.”
*How about a mask?
“The mask is used if you don't want to get Corona 19. The importance of wearing a mask cannot be overemphasized. It is unscientific to not have to wear a mask. You should wear a mask. The reason they are more infected in Europe is because they don't wear masks. It is for sure. The economic effect must be taken into account when distanced. It is natural to get less infected if you distance yourself. But that's why I can't go to church, block the billiard room, and block the coffee shop. However, one said that he would stop an infection that should not be prevented, but rather economically should not go toward dying. Wear a mask, keep your immunity, don't be too afraid.”
*When do you take off the mask?
“The mask is taken off by itself. If you realize that Corona is not so deadly, it is at the level of a cold or flu, you will naturally take it off. It's a very depressing story for the medical community, but since wearing a mask, the cost of opening has been devastating. Tuberculosis is much reduced and there is no flu. That means fewer patients. In the current situation, it is recommended to wear a mask.”

이왕재 교수는 한국의 건강정보 잡지 ‘건강과 생명’ 1월호에 ‘코로나19 바이러스에 대한 백신과 관련된 불편한 진실’이란 글에서 “백신 맞았다고, 집단면역이나 코로나 예방은 불가능하다”라는 주장으로 백신에 대한 막연한 기대감에 경종을 울렸다. UPI 뉴스가 1월 15일 이 교수를 직접 만났다. ‘불편한 진실’을 말한 대가로 비난이 적지 않을 것 같다고 하자 그는 “학자적 양심은 포기할 수 없다”고 소신을 피력했다. 서울대 의대 이왕재교수의 인터뷰 내용 전문 게제를 통해 코로나 백신 접종과 그에 따른 불편한 진실을 짚어 본다. <편집자 주>
백신을 맞으면 코로나19에 걸리지 않나?
“이론적으로 예방이 불가능하다. 사람들이 백신이라고 하면 다 똑같다고 생각하는 게 문제다. 호흡기 바이러스는 백신 가지고 안 된다는 걸 이해해야 한다. 바이러스가 혈액을 타고 다니면서 질병을 일으키는 경우는 백신이 100% 유효하다. 코로나19 바이러스는 상기도(코점막, 인후두 점막)에 감염되는 것인데 백신으로 인한 혈중 항체가 접근 자체가 불가능하다. 예방할 길이 없다.”
코로나19는 감기 바이러스 일종이라는데?
“감기에 대해서 설명을 좀 하겠다. 감기는 내과 책에 뭐라고 돼 있냐면 일주일 정도 지속되는 self limiting disease(자기제한질병)라고 돼 있다. 상기도에 감염돼서 기껏해야 일주일 정도에 끝이 나는 질환, 이렇게 돼 있다. 그리고 치사율은 없다. 항체는 빨라야 감염 3일 지나야 나온다. 3일 이전엔 항체가 절대 안 나온다. 흔히 면역 그러면 항체를 일반인들이 생각한다. 3일 이전에 어떻게 막느냐, 3일 이전에 막는 면역시스템을 우리는 선천면역이라고 한다. 코로나 바이러스도 감기 바이러스와 똑같다. 다만 차이가 뭐냐면 상기도 점막에 딱 붙는다. 붙는 능력이 100배 이상 강해졌다는 거다. 아시다시피 아무 세포나 붙는 게 아니다. 감기 바이러스는 상기도 점막에만 붙는다. 붙는 힘이 변종이 된 코로나 바이러스가 100배 이상이라는 거다. 그래서 한여름에도 계속 감염이 되는 거다. 원래는 3~4일로 끝이 나는 병이다. 항체가 만들어질 틈도 없다. 상처가 아무는 데 3~4일 걸려서 일주일이면 끝나는 병이다.”
일반 감기 바이러스보다 증상이 심한가?
“일반감기보다 심하지만 독감보다 약하다고 돼 있다. 왜 그러냐면 문제를 일으키고 있는 코로나 바이러스는 모든 사람에 있다. 공생하는 바이러스다. 그런데 코로나19는 공생하는 바이러스와 5~10%가 염기서열이 다른 것이다. 박쥐 것이 감염된 것이기 때문이다. 코로나바이러스는 원래 종간에 서로 왔다 갔다 하지 않는다. 그런데 이번에 이거는 박쥐 것, 사스는 사향고양이, 메르스는 낙타의 코로나바이러스가 사람에게 감염된 것이다. 종간의 벽이 무너지는 일이 21세기에 생긴 것이다.”
코로나19 항체가 생기기 어려운 이유는 뭔가?
“코로나19는 원래 몸에 있는 코로나 바이러스와 5~10% 다른 부분이 있기 때문에 인간의 몸엔 생소한 것이다. 생소한 놈이 들어오면 반응이 심하게 일어난다. 없던 놈이지만 실제는 90~95%는 우리가 가지고 있는 것과 똑같다. 항체가 그래서 잘 안 만들어진다. 정은경 청장이 발표했다. 한국인 1440명을 임의로 뽑아 코로나19에 대한 항체를 검사했더니 1명 나왔다고 했다. 항체가 거의 안 생기는 거다. 내가 몸에 가지고 있는 것은 항체를 안 만드는데 코로나19가 90~95%가 똑같기 때문이다. 인플루엔자(독감)는 내 몸에 없어요. 감염되는 거다. 그건 우리 몸의 면역시스템이 항체를 금방 만든다. 인플루엔자는 항체가 잘 생긴다.
그러나 호흡기바이러스의 경우는 공기 중에 있다가 콧속에 붙는데, 인플루엔자 항체는 혈중에 있다. 피를 타고 돌아다니기 때문에 호흡기 점막 상피세포에 혈관이 없기 때문에 접근할 수가 없다. 그래서 이론적으로 예방효과는 0%이다. 그런데 왜 맞느냐, 노인들은 독감의 합병증이 생기면 폐렴이 돼서 죽는다. 폐렴이 된다는 얘기는 상기도에 있던 놈이 혈액을 타고 돌아다닌다는 말이다.혈액을 타고 돌아다닐 경우에는 항체가 작용한다. 죽지않게 할 수 있다. 효과가 전혀 없다는 게 아니다. 그런데 그렇게 되는 사람이 1%도 안 된다는 말이다. 100명 중 1명도 안 되는 사람을 위해서 백신을 맞을 필요가 있냐는 거다.”
그렇다면 코로나19 백신도 그런 효과는 있나?
“코로나19도 마찬가지다. 코로나19로 죽은 사람은 많은 경우 뇌에 있는 혈관이 막히고, 콩팥도 망가지고, 폐도 망가지고, 간도 망가지고 이래서 죽더라는 거다. 만일 코로나19에 항체가 만들어졌다고 하면 그런 건 막을 수 있다. 그런 게 무서워서 백신을 맞겠다면 나름 의미가 있다. 백신의 효과가 전혀 없다는 게 아니다. 예방효과가 없다는 것이다. 그러나 감염자 99%가 그냥 넘어간다. 1~2%에서 문제가 되는 건데, 그 사람들은 백신을 맞아서 항체가 생겨있다고 하면 혈중으로 들어가서 생기는 문제엔 효과가 있다. 그런데 문제는 독감은 거의 100% 항체가 생기지만 코로나19는 우리 몸에 상존하는 코로나바이러스와 90~95%의 유사성을 가지고 있기 때문에 5~10%를 우리 면역세포가 찾아야한다. 그걸 찾아서 항체를 만들어야 하기 때문에 이론적으로 굉장히 어렵다.”
백신 그 자체의 위험은 없나?
분명한 건 뭐냐면 화이자나 모더나에서 하는 게 mRNA백신이다. mRNA백신을 인류최초로 하는 거다. 굉장히 위험하다. 원래 mRNA가 찔러서 넣어준다고 세포 속으로 들어가지 않는다. 그런데 들어가는 기술을 개발했다는 것이다. 그러면 그런 최초의 시도라면 안전성에 대해서 10년 이상 봐야 한다. 과학자로서 정확하게 팩트만 얘기하는 것이다. 안전성에 검증이 안 됐다는 건 확실하다. 메이저언론에서는 백신확보에 대한 얘기만 나오지 문제점에 대한 얘기는 없다. 그러면 안 되죠. 메이저언론이 많은 국민들이 보는데 문제점이 있을 수 있는 걸 지적하는 게 언론의 기능인데 이건 지금 뭐하는 건지 알 수가 없다. 분명한 건 아무튼 mRNA 백신 안전성 검증을 안 했다는 것이다.
집단면역 형성시킨다는 정부 발표에 대해서는?
“집단면역은 만들어지 않는다. 감기가 인류와 역사를 같이 한 질환인데 왜 집단면역이 안 생기나. 절대 안 된다. 집단면역이란 불가능하다. 항체가 잘 생기지도 않는 데다가 항체가 생긴다 하더라도 계속 걸릴 수 밖에 없다. 집단면역이라는 건 항체가 바이러스 들어오는 걸 막을 수 있다는 게 전제가 될 때다. 예를 들면 간염은 백신이 완벽하게 듣는다. 그런데 이건 아니다. 항체가 바이러스와 만날 수가 없다. 치료제도 마찬가지다. 주사제나 먹는 걸로는 치료제가 나올 수가 없다. 항체가 감염되는 세포로 가서 기다리고 있어야 하는데, 거기로 안 가니 무슨 재주로 막냐. 그러니까 계속 실패하는 거다.”
백신 맞으면 타인 감염시키는 걸 막아주나?
백신 맞았다고 마스크 벗지 마라, 그 얘기가 나온 것은 화이자 등이 조심스럽게 백신의 취약성을 가리려고 하는 것이다. 말이 되냐. 백신을 맞고 항체 생겼다면 왜 마스크를 써야 하냐. 나는 감염도 안 되고 감염도 못시키는데. 들어오는 바이러스가 항체에 의해서 다 죽었기 때문에. 혈액으로 감염되는 바이러스는 그 말이 맞는 거다. 그런데 백신 기껏 만들어 놓고는 백신 맞았다고 마스크 벗지마라, 이런 소리를 한다는 것 자체가 내가 한 말이 맞다는 것을 그 사람들이 개런티하고 있는 것이다. 예일대 하비 리쉬 박사도 최근 미국 폭스뉴스와 인터뷰에서 코로나19백신이 자신을 예방하는 효과는 있을지라도 남에게 감염시키는 것을 막아주는 것은 아니라고 말했다.
코로나19를 감기·독감수준으로 생각해도 된다면 사망이 많은 이유는?
“죽어나간다고 보도해서 그런 것이다. 우리나라가 매년 독감으로 1000명 가까이 죽는다. 그거 죽을 때마다 보도해봐라. 온 국민이 공포에 떤다. 우리가 13개월 동안 1200여 명 죽었다. 독감은 5월부터 10월까지 없고, 11월부터 그 다음해 3~4월까지 5~6개월 동안 1500명이 죽은 적도 있다. 그런데 지금 이거는 14개월 동안에 1100명이 죽은 거다. 호들갑을 떨 일이 아니다.”
교수님이 정책결정자라면 어떻게 하고 싶으신지?
“사실 (거리두기를) 푸나 안 푸나 크게 차이 안 난다. 대신 퍼지는 것이 걱정이라면 마스크 쓰는 것만 철저하게 하면 더 이상 증가하지 않는다. 대신 병원, 요양원 이런 데는 훨씬 강화해야 한다. 실제로 거기 근무하시는 분들은 지금보다 10배 강화해서 진짜로 의심되는 사람은 한 명도 못 들어가게 해야 한다. 노약자, 기저질환자 보호를 철저하게 해서 죽는 사람이 안 나오면 되는 거다. 집합금지는 아무 의미가 없다. 감염이 덜 될 수는 있지만 그것으로 얻는 게 없다. 죽는 사람은 어차피 기저질환자들이다. 70%가 감염되더라도 요양원이나 병원 관리를 완벽하게 해서 노약자, 기저질환자들에게 균이 갈 수 없게끔 차단하면 한 명도 안 죽는다.”
가족과 같이 사는 취약자는 어떻게 보호해야 하나?
“그게 사실은 가장 구멍이다. 요양원에 가실 정도는 아닌 노인들이 있다. 젊은 애들은 무증상감염자가 너무 많다. 할아버지 감염시키면 어떻게 하느냐는 게 문제다. 그런 부분은 머리를 맞대고 찾아내면 되는 것이다. 코로나시대 이후에 생길 수 있는 새로운 삶의 변화라고 생각하시면 된다. 60대 이하의 부부하고 자녀들 정도면 문제없이 사시면 되는데, 80이 넘은 부모님을 모시고 산다든지 그럴 경우에는 주의해야 한다.”
유럽은 백신 거부율이 굉장히 높더라?
“백신을 믿을 수가 없기 때문일 것이다. 화이자나 모더나가 예방률 95%라고 한 것은 전혀 믿을 수가 없다. 흔히 하는 RT-PCR로 하면 진짜 백신 접종자는 모두 양성이 나오기 때문에 다른 방법을 써야 하는데 그들은 그것을 발표하지 않습니다. 방법이 없으니, 증상완화를 기준으로 했다는 궁색한 설명을 들었는데 납득하기 어렵다.” 지난해 12월 27일 프랑스에서 백신 접종이 시작됐으나 1월 7일까지 접종률은 0.03%에 불과하다. 접종 거부율은 60%에 달한다. 당국 최고 책임자인 백신접종전략위원회 알랭 피셰 위원장은 백신 접종에 앞서 백신에 대한 과학적 자료를 볼 수 없으며, 효능이 2~3개월에 그치고, 기저질환자에 얼마나 효과적인지 알려진 바가 없으며, 접종자가 남한테 옮기지 않는지에 대해서도 확신할 수 없다고 공개적으로 밝힌 바 있다.
지금 당국이 확진자 숫자 발표하는 게 의미가 있나?
“아무 의미가 없다. 주말엔 검사가 적어서 확진자가 적게 나온다. 많이 검사하면 많이 나오고, 적게 하면 적게 나오는데 그런 숫자가 무슨 의미가 있나. 감기환자 몇 명이라고 발표하나. 정부가 국민들 공연히 겁주는 행위다. 아예 발표할 필요가 없다. 차라리 검사숫자 대비 확진자를 비교해 확진율을 비교하는 건 의미가 있을 수도 있다.”
발표하는 확진자 숫자가 0이 되어야 이 사태가 끝날 판인데 그날이 오겠나?
“절대 안 온다. 0이 될 수가 없다. 인간 공생 바이러스다. 변종이 끊임없이 생긴다. 공생할 수밖에 없다. 어떻게 0이 될 수 있나. 어제 뉴스에도 나오더라 백신을 만든 모더나 CEO가 코로나19가 영원히 없어지지 않을 풍토병이 될 것이고 인류를 이 바이러스와 함께 살아가야 할 것이라고. 그렇게 인정하면서 백신은 왜 만들고 맞으라고 하나. 앞뒤가 안 맞는 말이다. 이 사람들이 도망갈 구석을 만들어 놓는 거다. 코로나 바이러스는 계속 변종이 나올 수밖에 없으니 백신은 무용지물이란 말이다.”
백신접종을 앞두고 있는데, 전문가로서 가족이나 친구에게 이야기해 주고 싶은 메시지는?
“변종이 나오면 백신은 백약이 무효라는 말이 또 나오게 돼 있다. 변종이 나오면 순식간에 다 퍼진다. 변종 출현은 불 보듯 뻔한 얘기다. 변종이 생기면 어떡하냐, 지금 그 백신 다 쓰레기가 될 것이다. 백신에 의지하지 말아라. 죽는 것 때문에 우리가 무서워하는 건데, 면역기능이 어떠한 이유로 낮아진 경우에 불행하게 혈액을 타고 바이러스가 돌아다니는 불행한 일이 생겨서 그 중에 일부가 죽는 일이 생기는 거니까 자기의 면역기능을 지키는 게 제일 확실한 거다. 면역기능만 좋으면 변종도 상관없다. 변종일수록 더 활발하게 작용한다. 백신은 변종이 나오는 순간 무력해지만 우리 몸의 면역기능은 변종에 대해서 면역반응을 더 확실하게 한다. 자기면역기능을 키우는 게 최고다. 그거의 대표적인 것이 비타민C를 먹는 것이다. 감염 자체를 무서워할 필요가 없다.”
마스크는 어떤가?
“마스크는 코로나19에 걸리기 싫다 하면 쓰는 것이다. 마스크 쓰는 것의 중요성은 아무리 강조해도 지나치지 않다. 마스크를 안 써도 된다는 것은 비과학적이다. 마스크는 써야 한다. 유럽에 더 많이 감염되는 이유는 마스크를 안 쓰기 때문이다. 그것은 확실하다. 거리두기를 할 때는 경제적인 효과를 고려해야 한다. 거리두기 하면 덜 감염되는 것은 당연하다. 그런데 그렇게 되니까 교회 못 가고, 당구장 막고, 커피집 막고. 안 막아도 되는 감염을 막겠다며 오히려 경제적으로 다 죽는쪽으로 가면 안 된다는 거다. 마스크 쓰고, 자기면역 지키고, 너무 두려워하지 말라.”
마스크는 언제 벗나?
“마스크는 저절로 벗게 돼 있다. 코로나가 그렇게 치명적인 것이 아니라 감기,독감 수준이라는 것을 깨우치면 자연스럽게 벗게 될 거다. 의료계로서는 아주 우울한 얘긴데, 마스크 쓰면서부터 개원가가 많이 황폐화됐다. 결핵도 훨씬 많이 줄어들고, 독감도 없다고 한다. 환자가 줄었단 얘기다. 현재 상황에서는 마스크를 쓰는 것을 추천한다.”

I met Professor Lee in person on the 15th. *If you get the vaccine, won't you get Corona 19?
“In theory, prevention is impossible. The problem is that people think that all vaccines are the same. It should be understood that respiratory viruses should not be taken with the vaccine. If the virus travels through the blood and causes disease, the vaccine is 100% effective. Corona 19 virus is an infection in the upper respiratory tract (nose mucosa, pharyngeal mucosa), but blood antibodies from the vaccine cannot be accessed. There is no way to prevent it.”
*Corona 19 is a kind of cold virus?
“I'll explain a little about the cold. What the internal medicine book says about a cold is ‘self-limiting disease’ that lasts about a week. It is a disease that is infected by the upper respiratory tract and ends in about a week at most. And there is no mortality rate. Antibodies should come out 3 days after infection. Antibodies are never released before 3 days. Usually, the general public thinks of immunity and then antibodies. How to block before 3 days, the immune system that blocks before 3 days is called congenital immunity. Coronavirus is the same as the cold virus. The only difference is that it sticks to the upper respiratory mucosa. It means that the ability to stick is 100 times stronger. As you know, not any cell sticks. The cold virus attaches only to the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract. It is said that there are more than 100 times the coronavirus, whose strength has become a variant. That is why infection continues even in the middle of summer. Originally, it is a disease that ends in 3-4 days. There is no time for antibodies to be made. It takes 3-4 days for the wound to heal and ends in a week.”
*Are the symptoms worse than the common cold virus?
“It is said to be more severe than the general cold, but weaker than the flu. Because the coronavirus that is causing the problem is in everyone. It is a symbiotic virus. However, Corona 19 has a different base sequence from 5 to 10% of a symbiotic virus. This is because the bat is infected. Coronaviruses originally do not go back and forth between species. But this time, this is a bat, SARS is a musk cat, and MERS is a camel coronavirus. The collapse of the species wall occurred in the 21st century.”
*Why is it difficult to develop COVID-19 antibodies?
“Corona 19 is unfamiliar to the human body because it has 5-10% different parts from the coronavirus in the original body. When an unfamiliar person enters, the reaction occurs severely. It wasn't there, but in reality 90-95% is exactly what we have. Antibodies are not made so well. Commissioner Jeong Eun-kyung announced. When 1440 Koreans were randomly selected and tested for antibodies against Corona 19, they said that one came out. Almost no antibodies are produced. What I have in my body is that it doesn't make antibodies, because 90-95% of Corona 19 is the same. Influenza (flu) is not in my body. It is infected. That's why our body's immune system makes antibodies quickly. Influenza produces antibodies well.
However, in the case of respiratory viruses, they are in the air and stick to the nose, but influenza antibodies are in the blood. Because it moves around in blood, it cannot be accessed because there are no blood vessels in the epithelial cells of the respiratory tract. So, theoretically, the prevention effect is 0%. But why is it correct? When complications of the flu occur, the elderly become pneumonia and die. When it comes to pneumonia, it means that a person in the upper airway travels in blood, and antibodies work in the blood. You can keep it from dying. It's not that it doesn't work at all. However, it means that less than 1% of people do that. "Is it necessary to get the vaccine for less than 1 in 100 people?"
*So, does the Corona 19 vaccine have such an effect?
“The same is true of Corona 19. In many cases, people who died of Corona 19 died because blood vessels in the brain were blocked, kidneys, lungs, livers, and so on. If you say that antibodies to Corona 19 are made, that can be prevented. It makes sense to get the vaccine because I am scared of that. It's not that the vaccines have no effect. There is no preventive effect. However, 99% of infected people just skip it. It is a problem in 1 to 2%, but if those people say that antibodies are produced by getting a vaccine, it is effective for problems caused by entering the bloodstream. However, the problem is that the flu produces almost 100% antibodies, but because Corona 19 has a 90-95% similarity to the coronavirus present in our body, our immune cells must find 5-10%. It is theoretically very difficult because we have to find it and make an antibody.”
*Are there any risks from the vaccine itself?
What is clear is that the mRNA vaccine is what Pfizer or Modena does. It is the first humankind to use the mRNA vaccine. It is very dangerous. The original mRNA does not enter the cell just because it is stabbed. However, the CEO he said he developed the technology to enter. Then, if this is your first attempt, you have to look at safety for more than 10 years. As a scientist, you're talking exactly about facts. It is clear that the safety has not been verified. Major media outlets only talk about securing vaccines, but not about problems. You can't. The function of the media is to point out that there may be problems in the view of many people in the major media, but I do not know what this is doing. What is clear is that the mRNA vaccine safety has not been verified anyway.
*What about the government announcement that it creates collective immunity?
“It does not create collective immunity. Cold is a disease that has shared history with mankind, but why does not group immunity occur? Absolutely not. Group immunity is impossible. Antibodies are not well-produced, and even if antibodies do develop, they are bound to keep getting caught. Population immunity is a time when the premise is that antibodies can stop the virus from entering. For example, hepatitis vaccine works perfectly. But this is not it. Antibodies cannot meet the virus. The same goes for the cure. There is no cure with injections or eating. I have to go to the cell where the antibody is infected and wait for it, but I don't go there. So it keeps failing.”
*Will the vaccine prevent infecting others?
Don't take off your mask just because you've been vaccinated, and that's what Pfizer et al are carefully trying to cover the vulnerability of the vaccine. Makes sense. Why should I wear a mask if I got the vaccine and got antibodies? I can't get infected and I can't get infected. Because the incoming virus was killed by antibodies. That's right for a virus that infects blood. But don't take off your mask just because you've got the vaccine after making the most of the vaccine, and those people are guaranteeing that saying this is exactly what I said. Yale University's Dr. Harvey Risch also recently told Fox News in the United States that although the COVID-19 vaccine has the effect of preventing itself, it does not prevent infecting others.
*If you can think of Corona 19 as a cold or flu level, why are there so many deaths?
“It is because they reported that they were dying. Nearly 1,000 people die from the flu every year in Korea. Report it every time you die. The whole people tremble with fear. Over 1,200 people died in 13 months. There is no flu from May to October, and 1,500 people have died in 5 to 6 months from November to March to April of the following year. But now this is 1,100 people died in 14 months. It is not a fuss.”
*If you are a policy maker, what would you like to do?
“Actually, it doesn't make a big difference. Instead, if you're worried about spreading, just wearing a mask thoroughly won't increase any more. Instead, hospitals and nursing homes should be much strengthened. In fact, those who work there should be strengthened ten times more than they are now so that no one who is really suspicious can enter. It is necessary to thoroughly protect the elderly and the underlying disease so that no one dies. The ban on gatherings has no meaning. The infection may be less, but there is nothing to gain from it. Those who die are those with underlying diseases anyway. Even if 70% of them are infected, if the nursing home or hospital is completely managed so that the germs cannot go to the elderly and the underlying disease, no one will die.”
*How should we protect the vulnerable who live with our family?
“That's actually the most hole. There are elderly people who are not enough to go to a nursing home. Young children have too many asymptomatic infections. The question is what to do if you infect your grandfather. You just have to find those parts head-to-head. You can think of it as a new life change that can occur after the corona era. Married couples and children under the age of 60 can live without any problems, but care should be taken in cases such as living with parents over 80.”
*The vaccine rejection rate is very high in Europe?
“It's probably because I can't believe the vaccine. I can't believe that Pfizer or Modena said it had a 95% prevention rate. With RT-PCR, which is a common practice, all real vaccinators are positive, so you have to use another method, but they don't announce it. Since there is no way, I heard a difficult explanation that it was based on symptom relief, but it is difficult to understand.” Vaccination began in France on December 27 last year, but until January 7, the vaccination rate was only 0.03%. The rejection rate of vaccination reaches 60%. *When the number of confirmed patients announced is 0, this situation will end. Will that day come?
“Never come. It cannot be zero. It is a human symbiotic virus. Variations are constantly occurring. We have no choice but to live together. How can it be zero? As long as the immune function is good, the variant does not matter. The more the variety is, the more active it is. Vaccines become powerless as soon as a variety emerges, but the immune function of our body makes the immune response more certain to the variety. It is best to develop autoimmune function. The representative thing is to eat vitamin C. There is no need to fear the infection itself.”
*How about a mask?
“The mask is used if you don't want to get Corona 19. The importance of wearing a mask cannot be overemphasized. It is unscientific to not have to wear a mask. You should wear a mask. The reason they are more infected in Europe is because they don't wear masks. It is for sure. The economic effect must be taken into account when distanced. It is natural to get less infected if you distance yourself. But that's why I can't go to church, block the billiard room, and block the coffee shop. However, one said that he would stop an infection that should not be prevented, but rather economically should not go toward dying. Wear a mask, keep your immunity, don't be too afraid.”
*When do you take off the mask?
“The mask is taken off by itself. If you realize that Corona is not so deadly, it is at the level of a cold or flu, you will naturally take it off. It's a very depressing story for the medical community, but since wearing a mask, the cost of opening has been devastating. Tuberculosis is much reduced and there is no flu. That means fewer patients. In the current situation, it is recommended to wear a mask.”

이왕재 교수는 한국의 건강정보 잡지 ‘건강과 생명’ 1월호에 ‘코로나19 바이러스에 대한 백신과 관련된 불편한 진실’이란 글에서 “백신 맞았다고, 집단면역이나 코로나 예방은 불가능하다”라는 주장으로 백신에 대한 막연한 기대감에 경종을 울렸다. UPI 뉴스가 1월 15일 이 교수를 직접 만났다. ‘불편한 진실’을 말한 대가로 비난이 적지 않을 것 같다고 하자 그는 “학자적 양심은 포기할 수 없다”고 소신을 피력했다. 서울대 의대 이왕재교수의 인터뷰 내용 전문 게제를 통해 코로나 백신 접종과 그에 따른 불편한 진실을 짚어 본다. <편집자 주>
백신을 맞으면 코로나19에 걸리지 않나?
“이론적으로 예방이 불가능하다. 사람들이 백신이라고 하면 다 똑같다고 생각하는 게 문제다. 호흡기 바이러스는 백신 가지고 안 된다는 걸 이해해야 한다. 바이러스가 혈액을 타고 다니면서 질병을 일으키는 경우는 백신이 100% 유효하다. 코로나19 바이러스는 상기도(코점막, 인후두 점막)에 감염되는 것인데 백신으로 인한 혈중 항체가 접근 자체가 불가능하다. 예방할 길이 없다.”
코로나19는 감기 바이러스 일종이라는데?
“감기에 대해서 설명을 좀 하겠다. 감기는 내과 책에 뭐라고 돼 있냐면 일주일 정도 지속되는 self limiting disease(자기제한질병)라고 돼 있다. 상기도에 감염돼서 기껏해야 일주일 정도에 끝이 나는 질환, 이렇게 돼 있다. 그리고 치사율은 없다. 항체는 빨라야 감염 3일 지나야 나온다. 3일 이전엔 항체가 절대 안 나온다. 흔히 면역 그러면 항체를 일반인들이 생각한다. 3일 이전에 어떻게 막느냐, 3일 이전에 막는 면역시스템을 우리는 선천면역이라고 한다. 코로나 바이러스도 감기 바이러스와 똑같다. 다만 차이가 뭐냐면 상기도 점막에 딱 붙는다. 붙는 능력이 100배 이상 강해졌다는 거다. 아시다시피 아무 세포나 붙는 게 아니다. 감기 바이러스는 상기도 점막에만 붙는다. 붙는 힘이 변종이 된 코로나 바이러스가 100배 이상이라는 거다. 그래서 한여름에도 계속 감염이 되는 거다. 원래는 3~4일로 끝이 나는 병이다. 항체가 만들어질 틈도 없다. 상처가 아무는 데 3~4일 걸려서 일주일이면 끝나는 병이다.”
일반 감기 바이러스보다 증상이 심한가?
“일반감기보다 심하지만 독감보다 약하다고 돼 있다. 왜 그러냐면 문제를 일으키고 있는 코로나 바이러스는 모든 사람에 있다. 공생하는 바이러스다. 그런데 코로나19는 공생하는 바이러스와 5~10%가 염기서열이 다른 것이다. 박쥐 것이 감염된 것이기 때문이다. 코로나바이러스는 원래 종간에 서로 왔다 갔다 하지 않는다. 그런데 이번에 이거는 박쥐 것, 사스는 사향고양이, 메르스는 낙타의 코로나바이러스가 사람에게 감염된 것이다. 종간의 벽이 무너지는 일이 21세기에 생긴 것이다.”
코로나19 항체가 생기기 어려운 이유는 뭔가?
“코로나19는 원래 몸에 있는 코로나 바이러스와 5~10% 다른 부분이 있기 때문에 인간의 몸엔 생소한 것이다. 생소한 놈이 들어오면 반응이 심하게 일어난다. 없던 놈이지만 실제는 90~95%는 우리가 가지고 있는 것과 똑같다. 항체가 그래서 잘 안 만들어진다. 정은경 청장이 발표했다. 한국인 1440명을 임의로 뽑아 코로나19에 대한 항체를 검사했더니 1명 나왔다고 했다. 항체가 거의 안 생기는 거다. 내가 몸에 가지고 있는 것은 항체를 안 만드는데 코로나19가 90~95%가 똑같기 때문이다. 인플루엔자(독감)는 내 몸에 없어요. 감염되는 거다. 그건 우리 몸의 면역시스템이 항체를 금방 만든다. 인플루엔자는 항체가 잘 생긴다.
그러나 호흡기바이러스의 경우는 공기 중에 있다가 콧속에 붙는데, 인플루엔자 항체는 혈중에 있다. 피를 타고 돌아다니기 때문에 호흡기 점막 상피세포에 혈관이 없기 때문에 접근할 수가 없다. 그래서 이론적으로 예방효과는 0%이다. 그런데 왜 맞느냐, 노인들은 독감의 합병증이 생기면 폐렴이 돼서 죽는다. 폐렴이 된다는 얘기는 상기도에 있던 놈이 혈액을 타고 돌아다닌다는 말이다.혈액을 타고 돌아다닐 경우에는 항체가 작용한다. 죽지않게 할 수 있다. 효과가 전혀 없다는 게 아니다. 그런데 그렇게 되는 사람이 1%도 안 된다는 말이다. 100명 중 1명도 안 되는 사람을 위해서 백신을 맞을 필요가 있냐는 거다.”
그렇다면 코로나19 백신도 그런 효과는 있나?
“코로나19도 마찬가지다. 코로나19로 죽은 사람은 많은 경우 뇌에 있는 혈관이 막히고, 콩팥도 망가지고, 폐도 망가지고, 간도 망가지고 이래서 죽더라는 거다. 만일 코로나19에 항체가 만들어졌다고 하면 그런 건 막을 수 있다. 그런 게 무서워서 백신을 맞겠다면 나름 의미가 있다. 백신의 효과가 전혀 없다는 게 아니다. 예방효과가 없다는 것이다. 그러나 감염자 99%가 그냥 넘어간다. 1~2%에서 문제가 되는 건데, 그 사람들은 백신을 맞아서 항체가 생겨있다고 하면 혈중으로 들어가서 생기는 문제엔 효과가 있다. 그런데 문제는 독감은 거의 100% 항체가 생기지만 코로나19는 우리 몸에 상존하는 코로나바이러스와 90~95%의 유사성을 가지고 있기 때문에 5~10%를 우리 면역세포가 찾아야한다. 그걸 찾아서 항체를 만들어야 하기 때문에 이론적으로 굉장히 어렵다.”
백신 그 자체의 위험은 없나?
분명한 건 뭐냐면 화이자나 모더나에서 하는 게 mRNA백신이다. mRNA백신을 인류최초로 하는 거다. 굉장히 위험하다. 원래 mRNA가 찔러서 넣어준다고 세포 속으로 들어가지 않는다. 그런데 들어가는 기술을 개발했다는 것이다. 그러면 그런 최초의 시도라면 안전성에 대해서 10년 이상 봐야 한다. 과학자로서 정확하게 팩트만 얘기하는 것이다. 안전성에 검증이 안 됐다는 건 확실하다. 메이저언론에서는 백신확보에 대한 얘기만 나오지 문제점에 대한 얘기는 없다. 그러면 안 되죠. 메이저언론이 많은 국민들이 보는데 문제점이 있을 수 있는 걸 지적하는 게 언론의 기능인데 이건 지금 뭐하는 건지 알 수가 없다. 분명한 건 아무튼 mRNA 백신 안전성 검증을 안 했다는 것이다.
집단면역 형성시킨다는 정부 발표에 대해서는?
“집단면역은 만들어지 않는다. 감기가 인류와 역사를 같이 한 질환인데 왜 집단면역이 안 생기나. 절대 안 된다. 집단면역이란 불가능하다. 항체가 잘 생기지도 않는 데다가 항체가 생긴다 하더라도 계속 걸릴 수 밖에 없다. 집단면역이라는 건 항체가 바이러스 들어오는 걸 막을 수 있다는 게 전제가 될 때다. 예를 들면 간염은 백신이 완벽하게 듣는다. 그런데 이건 아니다. 항체가 바이러스와 만날 수가 없다. 치료제도 마찬가지다. 주사제나 먹는 걸로는 치료제가 나올 수가 없다. 항체가 감염되는 세포로 가서 기다리고 있어야 하는데, 거기로 안 가니 무슨 재주로 막냐. 그러니까 계속 실패하는 거다.”
백신 맞으면 타인 감염시키는 걸 막아주나?
백신 맞았다고 마스크 벗지 마라, 그 얘기가 나온 것은 화이자 등이 조심스럽게 백신의 취약성을 가리려고 하는 것이다. 말이 되냐. 백신을 맞고 항체 생겼다면 왜 마스크를 써야 하냐. 나는 감염도 안 되고 감염도 못시키는데. 들어오는 바이러스가 항체에 의해서 다 죽었기 때문에. 혈액으로 감염되는 바이러스는 그 말이 맞는 거다. 그런데 백신 기껏 만들어 놓고는 백신 맞았다고 마스크 벗지마라, 이런 소리를 한다는 것 자체가 내가 한 말이 맞다는 것을 그 사람들이 개런티하고 있는 것이다. 예일대 하비 리쉬 박사도 최근 미국 폭스뉴스와 인터뷰에서 코로나19백신이 자신을 예방하는 효과는 있을지라도 남에게 감염시키는 것을 막아주는 것은 아니라고 말했다.
코로나19를 감기·독감수준으로 생각해도 된다면 사망이 많은 이유는?
“죽어나간다고 보도해서 그런 것이다. 우리나라가 매년 독감으로 1000명 가까이 죽는다. 그거 죽을 때마다 보도해봐라. 온 국민이 공포에 떤다. 우리가 13개월 동안 1200여 명 죽었다. 독감은 5월부터 10월까지 없고, 11월부터 그 다음해 3~4월까지 5~6개월 동안 1500명이 죽은 적도 있다. 그런데 지금 이거는 14개월 동안에 1100명이 죽은 거다. 호들갑을 떨 일이 아니다.”
교수님이 정책결정자라면 어떻게 하고 싶으신지?
“사실 (거리두기를) 푸나 안 푸나 크게 차이 안 난다. 대신 퍼지는 것이 걱정이라면 마스크 쓰는 것만 철저하게 하면 더 이상 증가하지 않는다. 대신 병원, 요양원 이런 데는 훨씬 강화해야 한다. 실제로 거기 근무하시는 분들은 지금보다 10배 강화해서 진짜로 의심되는 사람은 한 명도 못 들어가게 해야 한다. 노약자, 기저질환자 보호를 철저하게 해서 죽는 사람이 안 나오면 되는 거다. 집합금지는 아무 의미가 없다. 감염이 덜 될 수는 있지만 그것으로 얻는 게 없다. 죽는 사람은 어차피 기저질환자들이다. 70%가 감염되더라도 요양원이나 병원 관리를 완벽하게 해서 노약자, 기저질환자들에게 균이 갈 수 없게끔 차단하면 한 명도 안 죽는다.”
가족과 같이 사는 취약자는 어떻게 보호해야 하나?
“그게 사실은 가장 구멍이다. 요양원에 가실 정도는 아닌 노인들이 있다. 젊은 애들은 무증상감염자가 너무 많다. 할아버지 감염시키면 어떻게 하느냐는 게 문제다. 그런 부분은 머리를 맞대고 찾아내면 되는 것이다. 코로나시대 이후에 생길 수 있는 새로운 삶의 변화라고 생각하시면 된다. 60대 이하의 부부하고 자녀들 정도면 문제없이 사시면 되는데, 80이 넘은 부모님을 모시고 산다든지 그럴 경우에는 주의해야 한다.”
유럽은 백신 거부율이 굉장히 높더라?
“백신을 믿을 수가 없기 때문일 것이다. 화이자나 모더나가 예방률 95%라고 한 것은 전혀 믿을 수가 없다. 흔히 하는 RT-PCR로 하면 진짜 백신 접종자는 모두 양성이 나오기 때문에 다른 방법을 써야 하는데 그들은 그것을 발표하지 않습니다. 방법이 없으니, 증상완화를 기준으로 했다는 궁색한 설명을 들었는데 납득하기 어렵다.” 지난해 12월 27일 프랑스에서 백신 접종이 시작됐으나 1월 7일까지 접종률은 0.03%에 불과하다. 접종 거부율은 60%에 달한다. 당국 최고 책임자인 백신접종전략위원회 알랭 피셰 위원장은 백신 접종에 앞서 백신에 대한 과학적 자료를 볼 수 없으며, 효능이 2~3개월에 그치고, 기저질환자에 얼마나 효과적인지 알려진 바가 없으며, 접종자가 남한테 옮기지 않는지에 대해서도 확신할 수 없다고 공개적으로 밝힌 바 있다.
지금 당국이 확진자 숫자 발표하는 게 의미가 있나?
“아무 의미가 없다. 주말엔 검사가 적어서 확진자가 적게 나온다. 많이 검사하면 많이 나오고, 적게 하면 적게 나오는데 그런 숫자가 무슨 의미가 있나. 감기환자 몇 명이라고 발표하나. 정부가 국민들 공연히 겁주는 행위다. 아예 발표할 필요가 없다. 차라리 검사숫자 대비 확진자를 비교해 확진율을 비교하는 건 의미가 있을 수도 있다.”
발표하는 확진자 숫자가 0이 되어야 이 사태가 끝날 판인데 그날이 오겠나?
“절대 안 온다. 0이 될 수가 없다. 인간 공생 바이러스다. 변종이 끊임없이 생긴다. 공생할 수밖에 없다. 어떻게 0이 될 수 있나. 어제 뉴스에도 나오더라 백신을 만든 모더나 CEO가 코로나19가 영원히 없어지지 않을 풍토병이 될 것이고 인류를 이 바이러스와 함께 살아가야 할 것이라고. 그렇게 인정하면서 백신은 왜 만들고 맞으라고 하나. 앞뒤가 안 맞는 말이다. 이 사람들이 도망갈 구석을 만들어 놓는 거다. 코로나 바이러스는 계속 변종이 나올 수밖에 없으니 백신은 무용지물이란 말이다.”
백신접종을 앞두고 있는데, 전문가로서 가족이나 친구에게 이야기해 주고 싶은 메시지는?
“변종이 나오면 백신은 백약이 무효라는 말이 또 나오게 돼 있다. 변종이 나오면 순식간에 다 퍼진다. 변종 출현은 불 보듯 뻔한 얘기다. 변종이 생기면 어떡하냐, 지금 그 백신 다 쓰레기가 될 것이다. 백신에 의지하지 말아라. 죽는 것 때문에 우리가 무서워하는 건데, 면역기능이 어떠한 이유로 낮아진 경우에 불행하게 혈액을 타고 바이러스가 돌아다니는 불행한 일이 생겨서 그 중에 일부가 죽는 일이 생기는 거니까 자기의 면역기능을 지키는 게 제일 확실한 거다. 면역기능만 좋으면 변종도 상관없다. 변종일수록 더 활발하게 작용한다. 백신은 변종이 나오는 순간 무력해지만 우리 몸의 면역기능은 변종에 대해서 면역반응을 더 확실하게 한다. 자기면역기능을 키우는 게 최고다. 그거의 대표적인 것이 비타민C를 먹는 것이다. 감염 자체를 무서워할 필요가 없다.”
마스크는 어떤가?
“마스크는 코로나19에 걸리기 싫다 하면 쓰는 것이다. 마스크 쓰는 것의 중요성은 아무리 강조해도 지나치지 않다. 마스크를 안 써도 된다는 것은 비과학적이다. 마스크는 써야 한다. 유럽에 더 많이 감염되는 이유는 마스크를 안 쓰기 때문이다. 그것은 확실하다. 거리두기를 할 때는 경제적인 효과를 고려해야 한다. 거리두기 하면 덜 감염되는 것은 당연하다. 그런데 그렇게 되니까 교회 못 가고, 당구장 막고, 커피집 막고. 안 막아도 되는 감염을 막겠다며 오히려 경제적으로 다 죽는쪽으로 가면 안 된다는 거다. 마스크 쓰고, 자기면역 지키고, 너무 두려워하지 말라.”
마스크는 언제 벗나?
“마스크는 저절로 벗게 돼 있다. 코로나가 그렇게 치명적인 것이 아니라 감기,독감 수준이라는 것을 깨우치면 자연스럽게 벗게 될 거다. 의료계로서는 아주 우울한 얘긴데, 마스크 쓰면서부터 개원가가 많이 황폐화됐다. 결핵도 훨씬 많이 줄어들고, 독감도 없다고 한다. 환자가 줄었단 얘기다. 현재 상황에서는 마스크를 쓰는 것을 추천한다.”
